This week’s song is ‘Shut Me Up’ by Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) and comes from their 2005 album ‘Straight To Video’. This album was the first to feature Lyn-Z on bass and on the sleeve of the album was “A warning for those of you lazy self absorbed and/or just plain inattentive parents”. The warning went along the lines of parents should look at themselves before blaming everything on MSI’s lyrics.The band assigned themselves the genre of ‘Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk’, and mix musical genres from shock rock, electronica, punk and industrial.
The single itself was released in September 2006 and reached number 7 in the Billboard Hot Single Sales chart. The video for it featured a store clerk who days after going to a MSI gig, goes insane and explodes. To hear the song just go to our MySpace page.
